New dream home wanted for Icelandic mare (8-year-old) - With a heavy heart we are looking for a new home for our mare Gjola.

Gjola is 8 years old, grew up in Iceland and was exported to Germany when she was about 5 years old. We found her at the dealer and immediately fell in love with her because of her curious and people-oriented nature.

In the last 2 years we have worked a lot with her, been out riding, walking, hand-horse riding. She knows everything. However, it has also become apparent that she gets bored quickly and then develops a mind of her own. Gjola is very intelligent. This is exactly what makes her so challenging to work with. She wants and needs the full attention of her caregiver, who shows her with loving consistency that it is fun to work with people.
For this reason, we currently see her more as a kind of project horse for a person with experience of horses, not as a beginner or children's pony.
Once you have earned her trust and respect, however, we see her as a great partner. She is absolutely fearless, especially in the field, and even leaving the yard alone is not an issue.
Unfortunately, we can't do her justice and would like someone who enjoys working with this great horse every day.

In terms of gait, Gjola is currently 3 gaited due to her training. Both parents had good tölt, so this will probably show itself with further training. However, we have not been working on this at the moment.
She has good forward movement with a nice walk, a comfortable trot and an exceptional canter.

In the herd, Gjola is more likely to be found in the middle of the rankings. She tends to keep to herself at first, but then finds her place. She gets on well with mares, geldings and donkeys. She also knows dogs (not her favorite partners, but they are accepted), cows, cats and geese. Tractors don't stress her either, as she currently lives on a farm.

She has been barehoof ever since we got her and her hoof quality has always been good. She is ridden with hoof boots in front. So far, she has shown no signs of eczema. When her coat changes, she scratches the base of her tail a little. She has never had any wounds. In summer she is regularly sprayed or wears a fly rug. She also consistently needs a fly mask in summer because her head is sensitive.
Gjola is vaccinated against tetanus and influenza. Her teeth are done once a year, the last osteopathic treatment was in April this year.

We are looking for the perfect home for Gjola, where she can develop and reach her full potential. We are sad because we can't give her that. She is therefore currently being sold at a very attractive price. Gjola is now in further training to work on the current difficulties. The price will increase with further training. In general, however, we put place before price.

If you would like to find out more or get to know Gjola, please get in touch. We will be happy to give you more information in person. A visit is possible at any time.
